Governor Dodge Camping Trip - Friday, Aug 29 - Monday, Sep 1: Governor Dodge State Park near Dodgeville has a lot to offer! Over 5,000 acres with two lakes, one waterfall, canoe and boat rentals, plus biking, hiking, and interesting historical sites. The park is adjacent to Military Ridge State Trail. Located in southwestern Wisconsin, it's closer than you think—about 120 miles from the Highway 45 Zoo Interchange. Join your fellow Nordics on Labor Day weekend in a group campsite at the park. Pick your favorite activities, including on-road or off-road biking. There's a lot to see nearby, too. A State Park admission sticker is needed for your vehicle (annual $25; daily $7), and a State Trail pass is necessary to ride on the Military Ridge biketrail (annual $20; daily $4). The cost for three nights of camping is $9 for members and $10 for non-members. To reserve one of the 30 spots, send a check payable to NSCM to Dave Herrewig, 9713 W. Debbie Lane, Milwaukee, WI 53224. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope or your email address to receive the trip letter shortly before the trip. Waushara County Fall Weekend Trip - Fri-Sun, September 12-14: Visit Wautoma in Waushara County for a fun-filled, fall weekend of kayaking, canoeing, biking, and hiking. On Saturday morning, kayak or canoe a no-wake chain of five small lakes at Hartman Creek State Park and stop for lunch on one of the lakes at a picnic area with restrooms. Other activities available are hiking on three segments of the Ice Age Trail, or biking one of seven mapped bike routes as well as lots of “pick your own” routes. (Bike helmets are strongly recommended.) On Saturday evening, a potluck dinner is planned at Camille's lakeside house, and you can bring your kayak for fun kayak races on the lake. On Sunday, kayak the Mecan River , or go hiking or biking. Rooms are being held until August 18 for $82.99 per night before taxes under “Nordic Ski Club of Milwaukee ” at the Americinn in Wautoma, phone (920) 787-5050.
