Milwaukee River Fall Colors Ice Age Trail Hike

  • Saturday, October 18, 2014
  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • New Fane Mountain Bike and Hiking Trails 2703-2817 County Line Dr Kewaskum, WI 53040

The fall colors should be spectacular for this one! Check out the foliage on two miles of brand new Ice Age Trail along the Milwaukee River near New Fane.

We will hike 7.2 miles one way in the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest on the Milwaukee River Segment, which will include two miles of new trail built in 2013.

From the DNR's New Fane parking lot, we will carpool to Sunburst Ski Hill and then hike back to New Fane.

Highlights include a side trip to Shelter #1, rolling moraine topography, and wetlands abounding with wildlife. Possible group lunch in Kewaskum after the hike.

Hike is rated moderately strenuous due to hills and distance. A State Park sticker is required.

No pets are allowed on this hike, as the City of West Bend does not allow them in their parks. This hike is rated "moderate" due to hills and distance.

Meet at the DNR's New Fane parking lot on the border of Fond du Lac and Washington Counties.  The parking lot is on the north side of Valley View Drive. Watch for yellow and black Ice Age Trail Event signs. Contact Craig with questions at 262-370-3322 or craigsan@wi.rr.com or contact hike leader Joe at 262-689-2766 or jha3@charter.net.
