Ski With Nordics at Lapham

  • Sunday, February 01, 2015
  • 1:00 PM
  • Evergreen Lodge, Lapham Peak State Park, W329N846 Waukesha C, Delafield, WI 53018
With limited snow in the Milwaukee area, aren’t we lucky to have the snow-making loop at Lapham Peak State Forest? Let’s take advantage of that on Sunday, Feb. 1, for an afternoon ski and social before the Super Bowl starts at 5:30 p.m. Meet members of the Nordic Ski Club of Milwaukee at 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Lodge (the lower lodge). Please call Paula Brookmire at (414) 527-0040 Saturday evening or between 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday to let her know if you are coming and if you want to carpool (11:50 a.m.) or meet us there at 1 p.m.

If you tire of skiing the loop of homemade snow, take a hike. Lapham Peak is a pretty place for hiking and a good chance to use your hiking poles (or ski poles) on the trails. We’ll have cookies about 3:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Lodge.

Notes: A Wisconsin state park sticker for the car and a state trail pass for each skier are required.

Directions from Milwaukee: Take I-94 west to the Delafield exit and turn right at the exit and drive a mile or so to the Lapham Peak entrance on your left (west side). This outing originally was planned for the Nordic Trail, but snow conditions are not expected to be good there on Feb. 1.
