  • Saturday, March 07, 2015
  • 10:00 AM
  • Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit Headquarters S91 W39091 Highway 59 Eagle, WI 53119

Starting at the DNR Headquarters west of Eagle, WI beginning at 6 pm, we will hike the Ice Age Trail north and climb wooded eskers and grassy savannas for an out and back distance of about 4 miles. There will be a bonfire to follow at Ice Age Trail backpack shelter #2, so don't forget your camping chair and snacks or beverages to enjoy around the fire. The backpack shelter is just a short hike from the parking lot at the headquarters. A parking sticker is not required for this event. Hike distance is approximately 3 – 3.5 miles.

Part of this hike will take place after dark, so bring your headlamp or flashlight. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable hiking boots. If there is snow or ice you can wear snowshoes or Yaktrax. Please bring a water bottle and a hiking stick. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet and under the owner's control at all times.

Meet at the Southern Kettle Moraine DNR Headquarters located on Hwy 59 3 miles west of the town of Eagle at S91 W39091 Highway 59. Watch for the yellow and black Ice Age Trail Event signs to guide you to the parking lot. Click here for driving directions to parking lot location. A Wisconsin annual state park sticker is not required.
