November Members' Music Night

  • Friday, November 18, 2016
  • 6:30 PM
  • Greenfield Park Pavilion, 2028 S. 124th St., Milwaukee, WI 53227
You could call it “Music to Ski By.” Or maybe “Music of the Skiers.” Friday, Nov. 18, is the time to show off the musical skills of Nordic Ski Club members. Mountain Man Dan Davies plays the mountain dulcimer. Light-on-her-feet Dorothy Riesing will tap away to the “Pink Panther” in a clogging routine she developed last summer with her 4-H group. Chuck Utermohlen and Jean Jantzen will sweep the floor with some ballroom dances. Gelaney Wyder will dazzle us with classical accordion pieces such as Mozart’s “Turkish Rhondo.” We’ll also feature Renee Couture on flute, Paul Keber on trumpet, John McCarthy on guitar and a new singing group featuring Carol Palmert, Kris Reidel, and Joanne Ziarek.

Please hum along with us Nov. 18 at Greenfield Park Pavilion for this first-of-its-kind music night. Music teacher and new member Jenny Peters from Illinois will emcee and play violin. Ah, and harking back to the club’s early days, we’ll bring back the kazoo! There’s still time to join in. If you play an instrument or sing and would like to have fun with us, email Paula Brookmire right away: pbrookmire@gmail.com. Last rehearsal will be the afternoon of Nov. 18, 2016, at Carol Palmert’s home.

The Nov. 18 meeting is also the time to get flyers and sign up for the Nordic Ski Club’s Dec. 17 holiday party at the Seven Seas, a Weissgerber restaurant. Menus and costs are on our website. Remember, first-time new members get $10 off their holiday meal. So get friends to join the club now. For party details, email Cathy Ward: cward4@att.net.
