Bark River GSP Canoe Trip

  • Sunday, June 21, 2020
  • 1:00 PM
  • Lower Nemahbin Lake to Genesee starting at Sugar Island Road off Cty P

Join Glacier State Paddlers for canoeing on the Bark River from Lower Nemahbin Lake to Genesee Lake Rd on Sunday, June 21. Meet at the Sugar Island launch area between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. To get there, take I-94 west to Sawyer Rd/ Hwy P. Turn left/south. Turn left on Sugar Island Rd. It dead ends at Lake Nemahbin with 2 parking lots. Please read the signs. The car shuttle is only 1 mile.

This is an easy, scenic trip on a surprisingly clear “close to town” river. It's a short and pretty river/marsh channel. Cool off along the way with a swim in Crooked Lake halfway thru. Bring toys! After we take out at Genesee Lake Rd, we will head to Cushing Memorial Park west of Delafield for a cookout. It was advised that nobody bring a dish to pass, this time! So bring your own food and drinks. Grills will be provided. The park has some tables, but it won't hurt to bring a chair and table.

Contact GSP trip leader Lynn Pagenkop at lynnhp@wi.rr.com or 414-403-2416 (cell) or 414-540-1161 (home) to reserve a spot on the trip and to get trip details. Identify yourself as a Nordic Ski Club member.

The Nordic Ski Club of Milwaukee (NSCM) will continue to practice social distancing and the use of face masks, as recommended by the CDC and Wisconsin authorities. Know that your participation in any event is at your own risk. Before attending any NSCM outing or event, please check with the event leader. Use good judgment and continue to keep us all safe.
