Hello Nordics! I hope everyone had a wonderful
summer full of hikes, bike rides, water sports and a lovely time
with family and friends. Weren’t the mosquitoes awful?!
Fall is quickly approaching and winter just around the
corner. Come to the September Social and reconnect with all
your Nordic Friends. We’re looking forward to ski season and
to reconvening our monthly Nordic meetings. As usual, we
will have social hour from 6:30 to 7:30, a brief business meeting
and a speaker.
For the September meeting, we’ll ask Paul Keber to
give an overview of the coming Ski Season. We also have
invited a naturalist to speak about native plants and water
conservation as it relates to our own backyards. Should be an
interesting and informative evening.
The Annual Membership Renewal/Drive is kicking
off this month. Membership for 2010-11 must be current to
sign up for ski trips next month. Personalized membership
forms are included with your newsletter. They may be turned
in at the meeting or mailed to Betty Schraith.
A thousand thanks to the wonderful Nordic Volunteers
like Betty and Paul. Without the generous donation of
their time, we would not function. The club is in dire need of
a new website manager to post monthly updates and last
minute changes (trip cancellations, etc.) MaryLee tried retiring
but without a replacement . . . and we will need a new
treasurer starting next April. MaryLee Blodgett and Becky
Yakes have been doing phenomenal jobs but would like to
step down. Volunteer now and training is included!

Invite your friends to any of our monthly meetings, events, or social get-togethers. A friend of yours is a friend of ours! Extra copies of the newsletter can be emailed from our website or printed and handed to your friends with an invitation to join. To help promote the club, business cards listing the Nordic Ski Club hotline and website are available from President Katie Bivens or Membership Chair Betty Schraith. Give the cards out liberally, and post them wherever you think there might be interest. Remember, we’re a year-round recreation club.
