Hike then Fire and Fun at Lapham Peak (Friday, May 15, 2026)

Get ready to celebrate spring with the hope of summer being right around the corner. Join your fellow Nordics for a hike followed by picnic, yard games, campfire, laughter, and conversation.

Hikers - meet in the new Evergreen lodge at 4PM. We will discuss a hiking route and leave promptly based on interest. (only if no rain is forecasted). Hiking portion led by Alan Siegl - 262 744-4929 if questions.

Picnic starts at 5PM. We will meet at the pavilion by the Evergreen shelter at Lapham Peak State Park in Delafield on Friday, May 15 (Raindate to be determined).

Picnic: Everyone can bring their own dinner, beverages, and lawn chair. Campfire: bring your lawn chair, extra firewood if you have it. Come join in the fun.

Beginner Orienteering Hike at Lapham Peak (Sunday, May 17, 2026)

I am leading a beginner orienteering hike at Lapham Peak this Sunday, May 17 at 10 am when the Badger Orienteering Club will be having a meet. Orienteering is using a map & compass to find designated points on the map. Here is info on the Badger meet link. Here is the orienteering map at Lapham.

The Event starts at Trecker Lodge at Lapham State Park, located near the Homestead Hollow parking area. It is advised to make a copy of the beginner course below or buy a color map at this link. I believe you can make a color copy at most libraries. Bring an orienteering compass if you have one. Bring a lunch for afterwards.

Bugline bike ride (Saturday, June 06, 2026)

It's about time we get on our bikes as a group and take a ride. Please join us for a casual ride on the Bugline trail. We will start at the trail's east beginning in the Applewood Mall, W173N9170 St Francis Dr #1, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051 (north west corner of the parking lot). We head west to Merton's Fireman park (25 mile round trip). For those who want a longer ride, we can add 6 miles to the day by finishing the trail in North Lake and return back through Fireman park on the way back. An optional lunch stop at Loca Latte will be made for all those who want to socialize a bit before heading home on the way back.

If you are running late or want a shorter ride, there is a Bugline parking lot along the road just north of Loca Latte in Sussex. Just watch for us as we will ride right past it.

Summer Picnic (Saturday, June 27, 2026)

Games, food, camaraderie, a possible hike or bike ride—let’s gather for a picnic on the last Saturday afternoon in June. The Nordic Ski Club of Milwaukee will meet in Pewaukee in lovely Wagner Park, situated between Pewaukee Rd. and County Hwy F.

Pewaukee resident Cathy Ward has reserved us an indoor building (in case of rain) with electricity, restrooms, and good parking. We can bring a grill if we want. This is a potluck. Please text us to let us know what you’re thinking of bringing—so we don’t end up with all salads or all desserts. Beer, wine and seltzer are allowed in the park. We’re looking for help with the following:

Someone who’s willing to grill picnic food
People who’d like to bring games (outdoor or indoor)
Volunteers to help us clean up (we must take out all garbage and clean the facility)
